STANDING UP FOR LIFE
and against the UAS Pro-War Conference
held this year at the Tamaya Hyatt Regency
December 8th & 9th 2009
On Tuesday, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, four folks affiliated with Trinity Nuclear Abolitionists (TNA) celebrated LIFE by denouncing UAS Drone technology in a vigil at the Hyatt Regency at the Santa Ana Pueblo (15 miles north of Albuquerque). TNA was unable to take photos DURING the vigil, but some participants with credentials at the conference were taking pictures with their private cameras and phones.
The four from TNA posed near the entrance, went in to chat with participants at the conference in the lobby, then left the building, to get their supplies for the vigil.
Two came back to vigil OUTSIDE with this backdrop of the beautiful Sandia Mountains, using the larger sign ("DISARM"). The other two went INSIDE the building with the smaller sign ("UAS + Drones = Terror"). After four minutes the two inside were asked to leave the building. They immediately complied. The same security folk and Tribal Police asked the two outside to leave as well. As the four protesters against UAS obediently tried to leave together, the police changed their minds and said they needed to interview the four prior to their leaving the property all together. In the hotel security office, the four people opposed to UAS/Drone violence received written notification that they are banned forever from the Tamaya Hyatt Regency. All the participants were polite (with or without credentials), as were the security personnel and Tribal Police Officer Ortiz. One hotel staffer (Eugene) was especially kind to the UAS protesters while the police/security detained the UAS protesters while writing up formal written notice of banishment from the property forever. Then the four drove back to Albuquerque.
THE NEXT DAY...
Two Code Pink women (Liz from Arizona & Nancy from California) came to the Tamaya Hyatt Regency resort to attend the UAS TAAC conference. They were the first to ask questions of the Lt. General during Q&A session. The Lt. General answered this question about drone violence and accountability, then the Security personnel asked the women to leave the property, while givingthe Code Pink women formal notices of banishment forever from the resort site.
